The following are steps that will be taken when participant families arrive at the lodge for residential programs.

Participants will arrive the day before their first day of program participation.

We will be referring to the families /individuals in attendance at KiikeeWanNiiKaan – Southwest Regional Healing Lodge as “Shareholders”.

We recognize them as people who are investing in a concerted team effort, by actively participating in their healing program, for the betterment of their lives and that they hold a substantial share in this effort.

We also recognize that when people hold a share in their investment it is much more difficult to walk away from the effort and resume the lifestyle they are trying to improve.

1. Introduction and Welcome to the Healing Lodge

The Healing Lodge Shareholders will be welcomed to the Lodge and introduced to Staff. There will be an overview of the Orientation Process as well as the Healing Lodge Rules presented.

2. Intake/Assessment Form

An Intake/Assessment Form will be completed by the Shareholders with the assistance of a staff person.

3. Plan of Care

A Plan of Care form will be completed by the Shareholders with the assistance of a staff person. This will be done from the Shareholders’ perspective of how they want to participate in their healing program.

4. Assignment to Healing Lodge Counsellor

The Shareholders will be assigned to a counsellor. The “Healing Lodge Rules Form” will be reviewed and signed by the Shareholder. The counsellor and Shareholder will then review the Healing Lodge program and Intake/Assessment form and arrange a schedule of counselling sessions* (if required).

5. Medical Charting

This activity is designed to help the Shareholders to recognize where they are with the physical component of their being. Vital statistics such as height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate and blood sugar levels will be charted at this time.

6. Assignment to Living Quarters

The final step of the Orientation Process will be to assign and show the participant families where their living quarters will be for the duration of their participation in the KiiKeeWanNiiKaan – Southwest Regional Healing Lodge Program.
