  1. All applicants are requested to be “Anishinabe/Ongwehonwe/Leni Lenape or members of a Native family.

  1. It is imperative that individuals and families have begun their healing process prior to entering the Lodge.  This would constitute being in a treatment setting for the duration of that facility’s program or attending ongoing support/counselling with a worker.

  1. Applicants must be committed to their healing process and must be prepared to deal directly with the issues they identify in the referral package and during the intake process.  Participants are expected to follow through with all programming recommended for them by counselling and the healers at the Lodge.

  1. Applicants must live in the catchment area of the Healing Lodge.  This includes all of Southwestern Ontario.  Applications from families outside of the catchment area may be considered in special circumstances.

  1. It is preferable that applications to the Healing Lodge be forwarded through a referral source.  This is to ensure that ongoing support or aftercare is continued when the participants complete the Healing Lodge Program.  Direct requests made to the Lodge will be considered but these individuals will be put in contact with a support person in their community upon completion of the Healing Lodge program.

  1. First priority is given to families wishing to enter the Lodge.  A family is defined as having more than one person in it.  Requests for individuals to enter the Lodge will be considered if additional space is available after families have been accommodated.

  1. All entries to the Lodge will be planned well in advance through a referral system.  Applicants are expected to bring appropriate supplies and clothing for the duration of their stay.  Suggestions of what to bring are included in the information package.

  1. All referrals made to the Lodge must be on a voluntary basis.  Participants must be agreeable to a referral being made on their behalf and sign a “Consent for Referral” form.  No referrals made on a forced basis will be accepted.  The Healing Lodge will not be an imposed healing service or be a part of a court-ordered imposed sentence.

  1. The Healing Lodge follows traditional practices.  Therefore, applicants are requested to be drug, alcohol and solvent free, prior to entering the Lodge and for the duration of their stay.

  1. Under the discretion of the Executive Director and/or Program Coordinator, participants can be refused services if they choose not to fully participate in their commitment to healing.
